Don Pedrito was a curandero and folk saint born in Guadalajara, Mexico. His story begins when he was suffering from a nose ailment. As a cure he rubbed mud from the edge of a pool of water. Three days of this self-prescribed treatment cured the ailment but left a scar. Jaramillo claimed to have heard the voice of God telling him that he bestowed on him the power to heal. Don Pedrito then traveled thoughout Texas healing people. Upon his arrival back to his home, people as far away as from New York would come down and be waiting for him upon his return.
